Mount Evans Photography

#TBT Outside of Evergreen, Colorado is a great place to photograph wildlife, the Mount Evans Recreation Area.  Photographing mountain goats requires patience, lots of layers, and a long lens but it is totally worth the hail, wind and freezing temperatures.  They are such characters and their kids are so playful!  They are most commonly seen after summit lake on the road to the summit of Mt Evans.  Here is one of my favorite portraits of a goat I made a short distance from the highway…

Evergreen Colorado Photography

As long as I can remember, I have always loved animals and wildlife.  Growing up I actually thought I might want to pursue a career as a veterinarian or a wildlife biologist.  It’s only natural that I still like to sit and watch animals interact, it is part of who I am, but of course now I have to do it with a camera in hand.

Mountain goats are one of my all time favorite animals; They are such amazing creatures and they live in the most epic remote mountain locations!!  I have thousands of photographs of mountain goats, but it is so hard to narrow them down, they are just so stinking cute!

There are a lot of great wildlife watching locations in Colorado, but my favorite spot to see these friendly goats is Mount Evans.  The Mount Evans highway is open from Memorial Day thru Labor day and it is a paved road all the way to the summit at 14,240ft.
